Brand Identity Design

Brand Identity Design

Don’t Let The First Impression Be The Last Impression

Brand identity is the face of the brand. Brand is an emotional and even philosophical concept, while brand identity is the visual component of a brand that represents these larger ideas. Brand identity includes logos, typography, colors, packaging and messaging, and complements and reinforces a brand’s existing reputation. Brand identity draws new customers to the brand while making existing customers feel at home. We create clarity for your brand that will help you focus on your brand strategy and purpose.

Brand identity design process

If you are in a competitive market or an industry where aesthetics can increase your income (e.g. food and beverage, hospitality, fashion, financial services, health and wellness, etc.), you can benefit from the work of an identity designer. You may need a brand refresh if your mission has changed, your audience has changed, or you have new competitors. Whether you need a brand identity design or just a logo, our process follows the same steps:

Step 1: Proposal

Fill out the form to get in touch. The next steps are:

  • A short call to get acquainted and discuss the scope of the project, terms
  • We will send you an offer and a contract
  • If approved, a standard 50% deposit is required to get started
  • The rest of the payment after the work is completed
Step 2: Discovery

Worksheets

Worksheet “homework” will kick off your project. They serve as a starting point for future conversation and help organize your thoughts. Your answers don’t need to be polished, don’t worry.

  • Discovery Worksheet: questions about your history, competitors, and goals
  • Brand Personality Worksheet
    • Target audience — their goals, problems, and desired outcomes
    • Brand archetype — a symbolic character that fits your organization
    • Brand intangibles — besides your product or service, it’s what else you offer
    • Brand qualities — a big list of adjectives to draw from
    • Brand spectrum — where your brand should be positioned

Samples

You will collect and send samples of your existing branding, if you have them, so we can see where we are starting and where improvements can be made.

Research & Review

We’ll have hangouts to discuss your worksheet responses in more detail, evaluate your existing submissions, review competitor branding, and discuss the mood boards of the visuals we’ve selected to get your feedback.

Step 3: Concepts
  • Based on Discovery insights, we’ll create several initial design concepts
  • We will present them at the screen sharing meeting and send PDFs for you to view later.

Step 4: Refinement

Having chosen the best concept, we will refine it if necessary. How a round of revisions works:

  • You will collect feedback from your team
  • You will provide all reviews at the same time
  • We will confirm the requested edits and make corrections
  • We’ll submit a new draft for review

After the feedback is used to create a new design project, one round of changes is completed. The scope of the project includes 3 rounds of improvements. Extras are always available, billed at an hourly rate. (Normally less than 3 rounds are required for each component of a project.)

Step 5: Launch

Once the design is approved, we will create and deliver to you (and any vendors) all final artwork files.

If your project includes a corporate identity guide, all of the design elements of your corporate identity – logo, typography, color palette, photography style, icons, etc. – will be reflected in this document. As a result, you will receive a valuable guide to ensure that your visuals are consistent with the brand in the future.
